Is Hot Wells still in business?I live in NW Houston and for shooting my new black powder Brown Bess, I had to find an outdoor range. There are not as many as there used to be, so I go to the Carter's Country in Spring. I love it out there: it's cheap and the people are friendly.
That sounds great but a bit further for me since I live in the HEB area. I will check it out though. $10 is nothing to sneeze at but there will be toll fees also to consider which I just miss at Eagle. It might be worth it to check out Nebraska Furniture since I am in the area.I used to shoot at Eagle in Lewisville, but I found that Rifle Gear on 121 in the Colony has a senior discount. Mon - Thurs 10:00 am - 4:00 pm seniors range fee is only $10.00
Unfortunately, no. I loved that place and it was closer to my house. Is Hot Wells still in business?
The death of a customer in 2017 was the beginning of the death knell I assume and then developers sued for a nuisance issue. I used to go when I visited relatives out that way. Money grubbing real estate developers and home owners seem to think they have priority by moving close to gun ranges.Unfo

Shooting ranges, airports, whatever, you move nearby tough stuff. You made your choice now live with your choice. Infuriating. Lawmakers should do something about this. The death of a customer in 2017 was the beginning of the death knell I assume and then developers sued for a nuisance issue. You hit the nail on the head. The death of a customer in 2017 was the beginning of the death knell I assume and then developers sued for a nuisance issue. Austin Rifle Club probably though I MUCH prefer to shoot on private land. ARC keeps out the riff raff from what all I've seen.
Parker County Sportsman's Club..TXI'm curious to hear about everyone's favorite shooting range. What do you love about it — the atmosphere, the staff, or maybe it's just really convenient? Share the name and what makes it special!
I really miss Ralph's Range. Ralph was one of those guys that testified at the legislature in Austin when all of those rogue complaints were popping up with shooting ranges all over Texas. I sure wish I had a place like Ralph's to shoot again. If anyone living anywhere around Prosper, and wants a shooting buddy or wants to get rid of varmints, reach out to me. Wink Wink.I don't currently have one. My favorite was the one on my property. Unfortunately, I now have housing developments on three sides of my 50 acres and no place to put my backstop with a clear downrange.
It used to be Ralph's Range in Tom Bean, Texas. It closed after the County DA and the owner got in a pissing match about supposed rounds going over the berm and doing damage to houses over a mile away downrange. The owner just closed it because he got tired of fighting the county instead of raising the berm another 10 ft.
That is really great looking but a little far from Houston for a membership.Fort Bliss, Texas Rod & Gun Club. As retired military (Army), I pay $150/year. Covered ranges are nice, helps to keep the blazing sun from burning too much.
