I know I should do it. Everyone says it helps. I just can't make myself do it regularly. It feels pointless without the bang. How do you stay motivated to dry fire?

I treat it like homework. It’s not about enjoying it.
For most folks, regular dry fire practice significantly shrinks groups.
It really is the same as any kind of exercise.

I tried changing my sessions up by adding a different scenario. It worked great. Yeah nah... it didn't. It's still boring. Cycle, aim, click. No bang, no recoil, yawn

I don't like dry-fire either. Unfortunately it is one of the best ways to see what your grip and trigger pull is doing. The recoil of even a standard velocity 22 rim-fire can cover up errors. Until you work out how to consistently get the hammer to drop without any disturbance of the sights you might be wasting ammo programing yourself with bad habits that will be very difficult to break.

Very true, and we all know it. We just don’t do it !

Back around 1998 I bought a Rika Home Trainer system. Pretty sure they are no longer available but one is shown here:

It shows your hold on a computer screen and where your sights were at the moment of dropping the hammer. It is easy to interpret. Very good way to dryfire. Much more interesting than the usual dry fire training.
I was already a High Master when I got it and it did help me make the 2650 club.
I quit competing at Bullseye matches 20+ years ago so I have no idea what is available now. Probably something much better and less expensive!
At 71 years I am too shaky to enjoy competition against other High Masters.
The Rika still works but the old win98 laptop I used it with has a bad motherboard.
One of the things on my list of things to do some day is set up another 32 bit laptop with a serial port for the Rika.
