Just to be clear, Texas law says if any part of the firearm is visible, it's open carry, so yes, a rookie or hard ass might jam you up.It's not exactly open carried. The "grip" is built into the handle. It leaves about 1/2 inch of the grip exposed in a pocket or behind a belt. You could say it "technically" is not open carried, but it's not in a holster either. The rookie or hard ass vet who wants to jam up a "citizen" who carries might be open to opinion here. It's usually my last carry option.
Isn't there a provision that says it must be in a holster, open carry, or not? Same with a pistol in a vehicle.Just to be clear, Texas law says if any part of the firearm is visible, it's open carry, so yes, a rookie or hard ass might jam you up.

I’ll go against the grain on this, but, I’m not a fan of +P in the 38 special. Two reasons.
I don’t want my round exiting with enough energy to kill someone else. Ideally, I’d like it to fall to the ground out the exit hole, but that’s just not realistic.
+ P in small pocket revolvers is hard to shoot for even a normal sized man without having to readjust your grip. Slightly accurate follow up is impossible with a 5 shot pocket revolver shooting + P
I use normal HP self defense rounds or just HP rounds. It will work great and collateral damage is minimized.
Perhaps a bit of a broad brush. But, I’m being gun specific here.Sorry Sir, but you’re painting with a broad brush. Accuracy with any handgun depends on how much you shoot.
I shoot heavy .357 Mag loads out of my Ruger SP101. Accurate enough.I’ll go against the grain on this, but, I’m not a fan of +P in the 38 special. Two reasons.

My S&W airweight 38 spl is a bear to shoot with + P. Nobody ever accused me of being an average size dude either. One shot, and that thing rocks back in your hand. You have to readjust your grip to get a good second shot.
+ P in anything designed like this is unnecessary and just makes shooting it more difficult in stressful situations.
This is my unpopular opinion based on experience and physics.

That is one different looking grip.I use Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel 135gr +P in my 642. That has an Ergo Grips Delta Grip on it which makes it much more manageable.
