Hey everyone! I'm in the market for a reliable gunsmith nearby. If anyone has had great experiences with repairs or custom work, please share their name and what they did for you!

I'll second the motion for/from Houston south suburbs. Anyone got someone in the Pearland to Clear Lake area?

My only contact is Selous Gun and Rifle Makers in Grapevine TX (just NW of DFW Airport.)

They built a 300 Win Mag and threaded a couple barrels for me. Not difficult job. I believe they do high end custom work as their main gig.

I have beautiful Husqvarna in 9.3x62 that needs some work on the safety. I trust these guys to do a good job. 👍🏼

Apache Rifleworks in Comfort is my go to!
He builds some awesome guns and does quality work!
He built this 6.5x284 and it is a shooter!

Patrick Blueyes at Navajo Smith in Kerrville has done work for me. Nothing major in my case, but he has built rifles for others: +1 (830) 896-0308

My guy down in South Texas where I used to live doesn't do much gun/machine work anymore. Sending guns UPS had gotten expensive so I don't use Dennis Olsen in Plains Montana much anymore. So I had to fine another gunsmith locally.

Recently I've used Aquila arms in LaPorte, Tx a time or two, owners name is Chris. From reviews and what he has done for me best I can tell is pretty dang good. I plan to have Chris fit a couple of barrels for me in near future.

G&G in Point Blank. Old school gunsmith/shop. He is very meticulous and an expert gunsmith and builder who will take on the small projects that most others won't.
I have known him almost my entire 68 years and he does all of my work.

Not real close to either of our houses, couple hours from either. But still going to give him a call. You said old school, he may still be running a bluing tank, not many still run a bluing tank. I'll call and find out.

Hawn's gunsmith in Lumberton Texas guy definitely knows his stuff
I'll be driving through Lumberton on my way to mow grass at the lake place at Sam Rayburn. I'm so excited about mowing grass in 95 degrees high humidity.

Good info, I'll google Hawn's and get address and number. I didn't know about this place, good to know.

His place ain't much to look at and when you get there his shop is kind of around behind an old house but when you walk into his shop it's cluttered but like a museum he has years of shelves and shelves of parts and guns I am amazed every time I walk in there all the old guns and stuff. And I know what you mean about mowing just mowed my pasture last weekend was so much fun 😂😂😂
