Hey everyone! I'm on the hunt for a good folding knife and would love to know what you're all carrying around. Any favorites that have stood the test of time? Feel free to share some pics too!

For the price, any folder from Cold Steel is my first suggestion. Then there is tied and true Case knives, Trapper or mini Trapper, jigged bone scales in whatever color suits you. I've skinned a deer with one of my Case Trappers and it's as sharp today as it came from the factory. If your budget allows, then check out what Bark River offers at KnivesShipFree. com.
Remember, you get what you pay for. Avoid blades made of crappy steel, "surgical" stainless or over-hyped brands.

OH MY......"Best" folding knife is a subject sure to garner many opinions.

There are as many knife brands and models out there as there are people. Folks like them for various reasons (function, need, aesthetics, etc).

Surely... a thread that will grow into many pages in short order. Not unlike asking what is the best Motor Oil? :)

True, but recommendations aren't absolutes or rankings. The OP is free to choose what he likes and best suite his needs. I feel that a knife is the best tool you Canada carry e every day and there are literally a thousand uses for one in every situation, even if it's just an inch long pen knife blade.

Agree. Its a rare day that I don't have an EDC knife on my person.

I got into custom folders for a while back 20+ years ago, then realized most where so pretty, so nice, and so expensive, I was hesitant to carry or use them. Didn't want a pile of safe queens, so my EDC for past 15+ years has been a Leatherman Charge Ti. Does everything I need it to do, and I don't bugger up the blade edge, using it as a screwdriver, or prybar, scraper, or wire cutter. It has other tools for those tasks.

I have a very giving family. So I carry a Spyderco Assist orange, a Spyderco Pacific Salt H1 yellow, replaced by the H2 I believe, a Benchmade 940 Osborne, two nice Victorinox Swiss Army knives and a Leatherman Micra. The Assist is in the right cargo pocket, the Salt and 940 are in the left and right leg knife slots, the two Victorinox are both in the left cargo pocket and the Micra in a regular pocket of my Tru-Spec cargo pants, all every day. I may start rotating if they give me any more knives. :)

Knives are pretty much a personal preference. My current carry is a SOG Terminus XR and a Buck 301 that I have carried since February of 1979. 😎
While I was working, I carried semi-serrated blades made by S&W, Cara Cara, and Spyderco. They were handy for stripping various Romex, copper telco cable, service drops. I prefer a straight blade for more normal use.
While I carry a three-blade pocket knife, most of my cutting work is done with a three-inch folder. I have found the pocket knife is less "offensive" when in the company of liberals and Democrats. Most of my blade work is done with the folder.
I am partial to the brands listed above and will add Kershaw and Buck to that list.

For the record, y'all, SPYDERCO has a deal for veterans. You register on their website, and their knives are significantly discounted on they confirm your eligibility. Mine took minutes, if that. I carry a folding SPYDERCO Manix 2 that I am very happy with. Mine has a partially serrated edge, that I would forgo if I had it to do over again.

I got one of the yellow handle Case knifes from my grandpa back when I was a toe headed kid and it's still round here somewhere. My pop toted the Trapper, and I still have his oiled up and put away. Since I was in my early teens I have had a medium Stockman in my pocket.

I've got a small collection of Case knives, almost all of them Stockmans. I got to tour the factory once. It was interesting and enjoyable. Bradford, PA. Now Zippo, the lighter people, own it. Excellent knives.

I like Benchmade. I have the "Osborne". It's a classic. But I really like the Bugout line. I have a carbon fiber Bugout as my EDC. It's steel is S90V and super light. Some of the other bugouts are S30V. Which I like too.
