For the price, any folder from Cold Steel is my first suggestion. Then there is tied and true Case knives, Trapper or mini Trapper, jigged bone scales in whatever color suits you. I've skinned a deer with one of my Case Trappers and it's as sharp today as it came from the factory. If your budget allows, then check out what Bark River offers at KnivesShipFree. com.
Remember, you get what you pay for. Avoid blades made of crappy steel, "surgical" stainless or over-hyped brands.

OH MY......"Best" folding knife is a subject sure to garner many opinions.

There are as many knife brands and models out there as there are people. Folks like them for various reasons (function, need, aesthetics, etc).

Surely... a thread that will grow into many pages in short order. Not unlike asking what is the best Motor Oil?

True, but recommendations aren't absolutes or rankings. The OP is free to choose what he likes and best suite his needs. I feel that a knife is the best tool you Canada carry e every day and there are literally a thousand uses for one in every situation, even if it's just an inch long pen knife blade.

Agree. Its a rare day that I don't have an EDC knife on my person.
