Any thoughts on the .22 Hornet?

I don't have one but I want one. I don't even know why other than I do. It would just be go to the range and see how I do compared to last time. There isn't any other round I can think of that piques my interest. Anyone else like it?

Have a couple buddies who like the ones they have. Both have mentioned ammo can be hard to come by from time to time.

There's a shop in western Kansas with S&B 45gr SP for $9.67 a box and $15 flat rate shipping. They've got other options too but I didn't price them. I've got 13 boxes coming from them. And Midway has a good selection but at higher cost.

I've got a Savage 25 Varminter on the way. I've got a VX-III scope 3.5-10x50 that's been looking for a home. They should do well together since this is a 100-150 yard rifle.

I borrowed a buddy's .22 Hornet on a prairie dog trip. Light recoil made it easy to stay on target, and I was shocked how flat it shot out past 150 yards

I have used a Contender in 22 Hornet for NRA Silhouette matches back before my shooting buds died off. Very versatile round.
I developed loads that would take the 100 yd rams that were powder puff level. Then I got interested in upper possibilities. I bought a Ruger M77/22 hornet. I used a chronograph at the time. With lighter bullets, velocities approaching 3K are possible.
I encourage you guys who don’t reload to think about doing so. A new world will open before you.

I've been looking into the possibility of reloading. I'd have to use the Lee Hand Press as I have no way of setting up a reloading bench. I'd be very low volume though so that would be alright. H110 and the 2 lightest bullets suggest an easy 3000 fps according to a couple of manuals I have. It's a definite maybe. :)

You might be surprised how little room a reloading setup would take. I have a dedicated bench but I have seen some nifty portable or stowaway setups on forums. YouTube it !

Yeah, if it's larger than a playing card I don't have a space for it, and maybe not even then.
