What does this community actually drive? Chevy, Ford, Toyota, Dodge, or something else? No judgment here, I am just curious what people trust when they're 40 miles from pavement.

I drive a Ridgeline. Swing open door tailgate and locking trunk just like grandma's sedan only unlike hers waterproof and drainable. But I don't drive 40 miles from pavement. Or yards or inches even. Although I could within reason I guess.

I had always drove Fords trucks, 1969 F100, 4X4; then a 1976 F250 4X4 also a 1975 F100 but when I was getting ready to retire and knew I would be traveling alot I got and still drive a Dodge 2004 2500 4X4 and really like it alot.

I currently drive my first Ram 1500 4x4, 2023 version, I had a’17 Silverado Z71 until the Ram. The 5.3 Chevy engine was ok by itself but very underpowered when towing a trailer (18” tandem with a side by side) so not a lot of weight and about 9 mpg which is not good. Haven’t towed with the Ram so I can’t comment. I thought a lot about a F250 Tremor diesel which a friend has, I’ve spent a lot of seat time in it and like it, don’t know if it’s better than a Ram 2500 diesel 4x4 but a diesel is far superior when towing. One of the most important factors for me is comfortable seats and cabin design over a long distance. One of my friends bought a new Chevy 3500, drove it 300 miles and could barely get out of it because of the seat design, he returned it to the dealer when he got home and now has a F350 single wheel which he loves. I know that the Chevrolet 5.3 is having a lot of problems with camshaft failure, cheap Mexican metallurgy is the culprit but they won’t change so no more GM vehicles for me. Ram is returning to the Hemi, and going to a much longer drivetrain warranty which means that they are experiencing few enough issues that it is worth it to extend their warranty.

Ford F150 for daily driver and Ford F250 to move my tractor. Not only would I trust either 40 miles from the pavement, I would trust either to get me across the nation and back. It would just take more money in the F250 !🤣
