I was reloading my 1911 when I heard ping, then felt a sting on my arm, which started to piss blood on the bicep, close to where the arm folds. To make a long story short, the guy in the bay next to mine shot steel and a piece of metal ricochet-ed and struck my arm. Lots of blood but thankfully no vein or artery or organ was hit and not too painful. Imagine it had gone into my neck or hit an eye (I were glasses but still), so I was blessed in a way
Still, riding my motorcycle 35 miles back home after that took longer than usual. I could not go to ER immediately with all my guns and ammo so had to reach home, dump the cargo and go another 20 miles to the nearest ER. Of course my wife arrived as I was ready to leave and I had to tell her, which did not make her happy as she is anti-gun... Anyway she took me there and I'm glad I did because the piece of metal was inside my muscle whereas I thought it had grazed me. The doctor was unable to remove it with a pair of tweezers so now I wonder if I'm going to trigger alarms at the airport...
Morale of the story, remember safety rules: never feel like it is OK to shoot in tshirts, shorts, flip flops, (I've seen guys shoot in borderline bathing suits) and wear long sleeves, a hat, of course, glasses. I had taken off my long sleeve shirt because it was in the 80s and it felt GREAT in the sun. Bad mistake
