Well I haven’t fished in two years and this recent spring weather has me itching to go!
Been busy with the old Mustang (now back on the road) and stuff around the house always something to fix!
What about y’all???
Tell your fish tales…..

I had one of those open reels you could watch the line go from side to side. And maybe a 2oz sinker. Loved to cast it out and play games. Hit the same spot each time. Go for distance. Whatever. But people would tell me crazy things. "You don't have a hook on your line." "You need a lure." "You can't catch any fish with that." Well, no. I'm fishing. Not catching. On the way home I'd stop at Red Lobster and they did all the work. Cleaning, scaling, cooking, serving. I just enjoyed a nice day of fishing and the nice meal reward. The good old days.

I went almost three years without fishing and did not know how much I missed it. The first cast back felt weird and perfect at the same time. You should try to get back out there soon

I used to fish…like… a lot. I’ve owned multiple boats in my life, from a 12’ flat bottom to a 19’ Ranger bass boat, when they were about the best bass boat around.

The last one I had was a Ranger 18’ tin boat with all of the electronics, livescope, two Garmin fish finder/nav units, spot lock troller, etc. Then covid hit and I got the long covid, had a heart attack and my ability and interest in fishing slowly ebbed. I just didn’t feel like doing anything, so I sold my boat.

Luckily, after about 6/7 months of suffering with that malady someone referred me to an online doctor who had balls enough to prescribe some meds that the local docs didn’t and I recovered in a couple months.

Fast forward to now. My best friend and I go crappie fishing about twice a year with a guide and we have a ball ! We catch our limits of good fish more times than not and that’s enough fishing for me.

Not too much anymore. I could go to my son-in-law and daughters place. They have decent river access. It seems like I always have something to do...

Glad you bounced back! Shows it’s not the boat or gear, it’s the friends and the fish that matter

Here's a pic that may be the last fishin' expedition I was on in Oct 2011. Me on the left, Joe on the right. This was at a pay to fish pond near the Rio Grande River in southern New Mexico just north of El Paso, TX. We met in 1976 while I was an instructor at the Fort Bliss Air Defense School and he was one of my students. He passed away in 2013 from spinal neck cancer. He was my next to last Army buddy I still had any contact with. Haven't been fishin' since.

ME&JOE SIZED.webp

My hearing from doing a lot of shooting without ear pro when young. I'd like to have a word with that a$$hole and let him know he'll get old one day and wish he could hear better.
