I am looking at rifles and can't decide between 20 inch or 22 inch barrel. Does it actually matter for deer hunting inside 300 yards? I know the ballistics are different but is it enough to care about in real hunting situations?

The 2" don't matter for velocity inside of 300 yards but the 2" matter a lot for maneuverability especially if you have a suppressor. All my hunting rigs are 16-20".

I don’t use suppressors, but I see your point. It’s hard enough to maneuver a rifle inside a blind without bumping something under the best of conditions.

For deer within 300 yards, I doubt you'll notice much difference between a 20-inch and a 22-inch barrel when you're out hunting. I'd go with the one that feels better in your hands.
