what have you bought lately? could be an interesting thread as choices members buy as i think i'm out in left field on many parts especially barrel brands i've chosen? i buy a lot of aero precision parts (mainly receicers) and will only buy their 6.5creed barrels as i don't have any issues with their gas system lengths w/o the need to use an adjustable gas block and a h1 or heavier buffer to tame overgassed issues.

lately i've bought 5 triggers (some fixed weight and some adjustable, but all are single stage), 7 bcg's, 6 grips, 8 buffer tubes, 7 handguards, 5 stocks, 9 gas tubes (rifle, +1, +2 & +3's), 35 gas blocks, 4 adjustable weight ar10 rifle buffers, 3 308win barrels (1 custom), 5 lpvo's, 4 mounts and lots of small parts (safeties, bolt catch/releases, takedown/pivot pins, detents, springs & ambi mag catch/releases) and 6 chargehandles.

criterion has been my go-to on m118 chambers
hogue is my favorite for grips and stocks
radian for chargehandles
v-seven & aero for bcg's (but do have other brands)

At this point you’re not experimenting, you’re conducting full-scale R&D. I am honestly curious what combinations end up being your favorites.

for the 6.5gren vs 6.8spc debate, my favorite is the 6.8. for the 26cal creed vs rem, rem wins. i haven't had much luck with superlative gas blocks, but do have 3 unused to add for future builds. pretty much anything aero precision branded parts wins as the nitrided bcg's are and have been exceptional.

I’m curious as to the purpose of the post, perhaps I’m missing an original post that has context. I have a lot of AR experience and may be able to contribute in a positive manner but I don’t know what you’re wanting to accomplish only that you have a bunch of Aero parts.

Well, he settled one debate, that the 6.8 SPC is better than the Grendel. That’s two of us ! :ROFLMAO:

Actually, I have never laid my eyes on a Grendel, never mind actually using one. I do love the 6.8 though and have killed several animals with it, from yotes to axis deer. The Federal Fusion is a great choice.

Make that 3.

I had a Grendel for a bit, shot several deer with expected results but then I had decent buck facing me with his nose in the air, I hit him in the white spot, he tumbled backwards as I expected. As I was getting out of the tree stand I looked up and he was gone and I saw him walking away, he went a short distance and layed down and I thought he was done and then he got up and walked away again. I went to where he laid down in a large blood pool so I followed a good blood trail that had successively smaller blood pools and no deer. The blood trail stopped and I began a grid search for a quarter mile and several hours along with two young men who lived on the property and we never found the deer or any other sign.
I sold the rifle and later realized after talking with some friends who are fans of the cartridge that I was using an inferior bullet for hunting (Hornady Black 123 match) they load up Barnes TSX which performs much better. I built a 300 Ham’r and never looked back.

just to post parts you buy and the brands you like pertaining to AR's. on other forums there are people that have hart, bartlein (?), preferred and other quality makers/brands i have owned. i'm well versed in the AR world and have helped many fix/solve their issues............i go about problem solving in a different route than most with a good amount of knowledge does. i'm no "expert", but i'm good at solving.

I’m thinking big building a small frame 308.
with ruger discontinuing those you'll need to find 1 in stock or a used 1. from what i've heard there is only 1 company that has their barrel extensions that's needed for it specifically. there are maybe a couple that will accept the upper and reuse the extension.
