What organization(s) do you support ?

I am, and have been for decades, a Life Member of the NRA. I sent them money for years. When I found out about the La Pierre shenanigans I stopped sending them money and started sending them letters. He didn’t do that stuff alone fellows, he had board members looking the other way at the least. Now that he is gone, and the board membership has changed for the better, I don’t have to be ashamed of the NRA any more.

When I stopped supporting the NRA, I started supporting Gun Owners of America (GOA), and the 2nd Amendment Foundation. I think they are more active than the NRA is, or maybe even was, because they are sueing someone constantly in support of our rights. Lawsuits cost money, win or lose. Trust me, these two orgs win way more than they lose. The courts are breaking our way at present, so this is a very good time for everyone to support them. I encourage each of you to support one, or all, of these orgs in whatever amount you can afford. Thank you !

I support groups that are actually doing something in the courts and with the rules instead of just selling stickers. The Second Amendment Foundation has pushed big cases that changed gun rights, and groups like Gun Owners of America are always filing papers and winning against bans.

Afternoon Drycreek,

Life Benefactor Member of the NRA here. We have had some rocky times for sure. It will take time to build back peoples trust and belief but rest assured we are on the right track now. Focus on our core beliefs and continue our storied history of education and firearms safety for all.

GOA and 2AF are great orgs that are both built around and focused on litigating. They are fighting everyday to solidify our constitutional right. Litigation takes a lot of resources. I hope both organizations continue to grow.

Regards,

Raven

2AF. NRA will never get another red cent after making gun rights partisan. They have sown the seeds of our demise
Afternoon Rocketmedic,

Thanks for your perspective. I honestly never looked at the NRA (I'm the NRA by the way, as well as millions of other Americans), as making gun rights partisan or sowing the seeds of our demise. The NRA's message of freedom from tyrannical government appealed to the vast majority of the people who became members. The message was clear and simple. Support elected officials (from whatever party) that have a track record of support for the second amendment. Score cards they shared and ratings were based on actual statements the candidates made on positions and their actual voting record. Just fact based on the issues that mattered to members, not of someones political party. If one candidate or party was on the wrong side of the 2A, they were equally scored. Hardly partisan in my humble opinion. Just folks on the wrong side of the 2A for the majority of the NRA's members.

As far as seeds sown, it is well documented the NRA introduced more civilian gun safety and training programs than any other organization in history. Through countless volunteers passing on safe firearms handling to the next generation. For decades. Literally.

Just my perspective as the NRA, respectfully,

Raven

I think you are spot on Raven. I hold no grudge against the organization considering the excellent track record that they had for many years. I too, am a Life Benefactor member and once the dust settles I think that most of the true supporters will be back. Some won’t and that’s a fact, but I think we will have new members to take their places. All pro gun orgs need all the support that they can get !
