I finally figured out why I couldn't log in... I hadn't signed up yet. Dumb computer...

I just got in from the range and saw the daily email telling me what I was missing.

Today I shot, not necessarily in order,

17HMR sight in at 100. Bought Remington at M-G Farm Service center in Weimar, swapped the stock out to a Boyds.

20 Practical load test. Didn't go well but I know why. It's an Aero Precision Solus Action and Preferred Barrel Blanks barrel. It's in an MDT chassis.

6 BRA. It's also an Aero Precision Solus Action (magnum) and Preferred Barrel Blanks barrel. The last time I shot it temps were in the low 50's. I got single digit ES and it was shooting tight groups considering the barrel is new. Today, at 200 yards, the first two were 3/8" ish apart. After that... not so much. > than 1 MOA aka pitiful. Time to find a less temperature sensitive powder. Also in an MDT chassis.

8.6 BLK. Also Aero Solus action (magnum) and Preferred Barrel Blanks 1:6 twist barrel (not 1:3). CFE Black powder (not my favorite powder but it's always recommend. It meters poorly). I had a sub load test with 225 Gr Barnes TTSX that needed shooting. Not a great outcome at 100 yards. Also in an MDT chassis.

I also have a 6.8 SPC bolt gun based on a rebarreled Ruger American 400 Legend but it stayed home today. It has a thermal on it that's sighted in so no need. If all the parts ever get here I've got a Remington 783 in .308 converted to 6.8SPC. Two actually. My son-in-law likes 16" barrels and I prefer the 24" version. Looking forward to getting those running. The Remington is a better made firearm (once you toss that skinny little .308 barrel, replace the bolt head, and put it in a decent stock). This is a photo of his just sitting in the Boyds stock. I'm waiting on bottom metal so we can run ASICS mags (for longer bullets) and a .223 extractor and ejector kit for the PTG 6.8 SPC bolt.

Welcome, I just joined myself. I live in Dallas County now, but was born in Colorado County. So was my Daddy. Good luck with your rifle builds

My range trips sound very similar with multiple rifles I am developing loads for. However the list is getting shorter as I have been successful in finding great loads for some tough ones and working on some new loads for others.

2 of the best lately:
270 Nosler M48 was difficult to find a load for. The 124 Hammer Hunter with N555 is the ticket in it. 3344 fps, ES 14.5 and SD 6.0
Bergara 7 RM 160 AccuBond and N565. 2966 fps, 12.3 ES and 5.4 SD.
