Bob in Celeste, Texas has found this forum!
I am 70 and have enough health problems that I won't be fishing very hard or very often.
My boat is long gone so I am now a bank fisherman.
Our local creeks and rivers are part of the headwaters of the Sabine River which is a lot less contaminated than the Trinity River system and it's lakes.
Life is good

Is there still a herd of buffalo west of town? I spent lots of time doing telco work around there and always got a kick out of watching them.

Buffalo and Longhorn Cattle are a popular hobby with the ranchers.
I have not kept track of who is raising them.
Saw about 10 Longhorn a month ago and have not seen them since.
I have seen buffalo many times on my way to where Jacob's Plain Gun Club used to be.
The gun range closed a couple years ago. A great loss to the gun culture around here and the long distance competitors. It was the only range around here that had targets out to 1,100 yards.

Welcome,
This thread caught my eye, because my wife's name is Celeste, today is her 60th birthday, and I was curious where Celeste, Tx. was. We're in San Antonio, but strangely I grew up in Brashear outside Sulphur Springs, though it's been 40+ years since I was there, had never heard of Celeste,Tx. before. I guess we really never really did go north of I-30 for some reason.

Celeste is a great place to raise a family and it is growing fast. We have a lot of new people from out of state who don't seem to mind the hour plus commute into Dallas. I feel sorry for those commuters but at least they are raising their children away from the worst of the gangs, drugs and sex in big city schools. We have our share of bad actors but they have not taken over.
My commute to work in Royce City was about 20 minutes but the traffic on interstate 30 is a lot worse now.
The house has tripled in evaluation and therefore insurance costs ratchet up the house payments but we love living here. well, except the part about the rifle range closing. I used to be a competitive shooter, mostly precision pistol but I cross trained in most kinds of shooting. At 70 I have become a bit too shaky to shoot high master scores anymore.

I was thinking fishing when I joined this forum but I see plenty of shooting sports here as well.

Howdy from Houston(ish). My cousin's family on his dad's side was from Yantis and Sulphur Springs, not too far in Texas terms. Good luck with your health and your fishing.

Just north of Greenville Tx. (which is Northeast of Dallas)

Welcome from down near San Jacinto. My mom's family was all from around where you are. Audie Murphy country. She and all her dozens of cousins (She had 10 aunts and uncles on her mom's side and 11 on her dad's) were contemporaries of Audie.
