If so, do you have a favorite rifle or pet load you prefer?

I have a Cooper Model 92 with a 1 in 8 twist that loves the 105 grain Berger VLD's. Only drawback is the small tapered barrel gets warm quick so I haven't spent a lot of time trying other bullets.

Read good things about the Barnes TSX in this cartridge and was curious if anyone has run them in the 240?

I don't have one but I've always thought highly of Weatherby and would love to have one. I'm not a recoil fan and would probably lean to the .224 with the .240 being my second suspect.

I had a 1976 Ruger M77 in .25-06 and didn't like the recoil. I found this site and like the chart. I've arbitrarily decided my limit is .22-250 and below. I don't hunt. It would just be go to the range and challenge the targets. I'm kind of interested in the 6.5 Grendel although I have no clue why. And my number one suspect is the .22 Hornet. I just think it would be cool to have one.

I like that chart. Thanks for sharing. My guesstimator about the 240 being close to the 25-06 was pretty close.

The 22-250 is a great little cartridge. Comfortable to shoot. Its my go to for hogs and White Tail does when meat hunting.

Yes, it's less but not enough to make enough difference for me. I have no clue how the .224 compares to the .240 but I figure it's got to be some less, maybe around 6mm Creedmore but that's just a WAG.

I kind of think the .243 would likely be suitable, about 27% less recoil than the .25-06, and probably the smartest choice from ammo availability if nothing else. But the .22-250 is 39% less so I figure that takes it from likely and probably to will be. The 6.5 Grendel is about 20% below the .22-250 but I don't know about ammo availability or anything. And the .22 Hornet is down at the foot of the stairs staring up laughing and saying what recoil?
