.22lr - most reliable ignition?

The reason I asked:

I just picked up this S&W 43c from the aforementioned gunsmith.
The Aguila SSS rounds were all I had at home, save for a load of bulk ammo which I know are less than great in the reliability stakes.
The SSS rounds perform reliably but may not be optimal for defence...even on those 'light days' as they used to say in the feminine protection ads. :)

Federal Punch is getting a lot of positive discussion lately and some of the CCI offerings always rank highly. Look for YT video's by Buffalo's Outdoors (I think it is, or very close to that). He does good videos that are straight presentation of facts and data with no selling or leaning involved.

The .22lr just isn't a strong contender for a defensive round. But you can find some options that will do better than the SSS I'm sure. Good luck with your research.

For reliability/accuracy/affordability you will be hard pressed to find a better 22lr ammo than the CCI standard velocity imo.

Thanks Gents, Yes , I've had Fed.Punch recommended also. I'll try and find a box or two of each and try some penetretion tests...that'll be fun :)
