Picked up something new today and figured I’d start a thread for others to share too. Doesn’t have to be anything big — ammo, accessories, deals you found, trades you made — if it’s gun-related, post it up.

What’d you find or buy recently?

Last April I purchased a Brown Bess. Because I had never had a flintlock prior, I spent almost as much on the accessories. I bought this boomstick mainly because I decided to join the local chapter of a SAR color guard unit.

Bought a Henry .22 lr lever action carbine about a month ago.

Octagon barrel, Large loop lever (I leather wrapped), skinner peep sight.

6.8SPC barrels came in last month, A gunsmith finished converting the bolt in my Ruger American .223 so I swapped barrels on it. Then the 400 Legend came in so I swapped barrels on it. The .223 conversion went to my son in law.

Recently - (2) Aero Precision short actions. One is a short action magnum that I put a 6.5PRC barrel on. My .20 Practical barrel is coming for the other action. I put two 6.8 SPC II bolt action rifles together a few months ago. All have the same 16", 1:7 twist, heavy barrel. The first one was based on a Ruger American .223. I had a gunsmith open the bolt face up to work with the 6.8 SPC. The second was "remodeled" from a new Ruger American 400 legend. I'm about done with load development for them. Bullet choices were 175 MKZ (that's why the 1:7 twist), 120MKZ, 105MKZ, and 85gr TSX. The 175's will be loaded subs and supers.

For my new Henry Big Boy Steel, a Burris 2X8X35 scope, Burris Z rings, an extended hammer spur, and a Ranger Point Precision trigger kit. It's a nice little carbine, too bad it comes with a hard trigger pull. I have no trigger gauge, but I would bet that it's over six pounds.

I put that trigger kit in this morning. About a 15 minute job turned into a little more than that but I got it together. The trigger feels much better now !

Picked this up from the "For Sale" table at the TMLRA state championships this year for $350.00

.40cal Lancaster style Flintlock, unknown builder, 42" swamped barrel, Siler lock, probably a 1970's build, took 3rd place with it shooting offhand with it at state championships, first time shooting it, with no load development. 😳
