I'm curious to hear about everyone's favorite shooting range. What do you love about it — the atmosphere, the staff, or maybe it's just really convenient? Share the name and what makes it special!

Eagle Peak in Leander, Texas. It's npt especially convenient for me, but they are nice people and it's a good range.

El Campo Rifle and Pistol club. It's well run, well maintained, and not all that expensive for membership. For rifle there is 25, 50, 100, 200, and 300 yards. Target backers use staples or push pins. 200 and 300 also has steel plates. I haven't shot on the pistol range much but it's got a berm around it and they can continue shooting while rifle shooters pull or check targets. It's generally not very crowded. I test my reloads there.

The Ranch TX Private Shooting Club near Eagle Lake is where I go to shoot 500 - 1000 yards. It's a very nice facility. They have a lot of events there (like Kalashbash). I've taken my grandkids and let them shoot .22's suppressed. Overall it's a very nice place to shoot.

Only been to the one in Richwood. Used to be Big Kountry now it's Skeeters. Wife talked me into selling my Hi-Power Browning when we first got together because she had three little ones and we lived in a small trailer. So I thought it best also. They grown now with families of their own. So I got me a couple guns again finally. I go on off times and it's nice when not crowded. Went once when it was crowded and stopped to reload and in the next lane was a young girl no more than 12 or 13 by herself, Kinda spooked me.

Mine is a cautionary tale. Background. SIG has a new program similar to GSSF, ShootSIG. I joined. You get good pricing to buy SIG firearms. Unlike Glock who sends a coupon you take to the LGS and get the special price, with SIG you buy direct from them. I wanted a P365XL. Only certain firearms are available. It was not. Several weeks later it was. So I bought one. A list of FFL's pops up. I figured they'd all be SIG vetted and do right by gun people. I chose the nearby one. Range USA. Turns out they are going to charge $100 for the transfer. So a warning to be careful if ever dealing with Range USA. Or just don't ever deal with them. Turns out they are not "good gun people" as a corporate entity.

I see an excellent masseuse once every 3 weeks. She and her husband's property is on 34 acres.

They have a small but nice private range I get to use. 40 yds with steel plates on vertical posts and 90 yds with big hanging plates.

Heavy loads in my S&W 500 Mags makes the heavy plates dance! Don

I live in NW Houston and for shooting my new black powder Brown Bess, I had to find an outdoor range. There are not as many as there used to be, so I go to the Carter's Country in Spring. I love it out there: it's cheap and the people are friendly.

I used to shoot at Eagle in Lewisville, but I found that Rifle Gear on 121 in the Colony has a senior discount. Mon - Thurs 10:00 am - 4:00 pm seniors range fee is only $10.00

Is Hot Wells still in business?

That sounds great but a bit further for me since I live in the HEB area. I will check it out though. $10 is nothing to sneeze at but there will be toll fees also to consider which I just miss at Eagle. It might be worth it to check out Nebraska Furniture since I am in the area. :)

My favorite indoor range is Marksman in South Houston, TX. Been going there since 1966. My go to all around shooting range is Pearland Shooting Club, but it's a membership range. Outstanding facility!

Unfo

Unfortunately, no. I loved that place and it was closer to my house.
The death of a customer in 2017 was the beginning of the death knell I assume and then developers sued for a nuisance issue. I used to go when I visited relatives out that way. Money grubbing real estate developers and home owners seem to think they have priority by moving close to gun ranges.

Shooting ranges, airports, whatever, you move nearby tough stuff. You made your choice now live with your choice. Infuriating. Lawmakers should do something about this.

Austin Rifle Club probably though I MUCH prefer to shoot on private land. ARC keeps out the riff raff from what all I've seen.

You hit the nail on the head.

It's not perfect, but it's very good. Some people would like a 300 yard range, but no one really sees that happening. They also don't do Trap or Skeet. Plenty of ranges, though.

I'd love to have private land to shoot on, but I think the HOA would object! ;)

Arlington Sportsman's Club. $150/yr membership. Ranges from 25 to 200 yards with 4 rollout target lanes to 25 yards. Skeet, trap, sporting clays and 5 stand for shotgunners and a fishing pond.
